Mamie has grown up with a love of horses!  Born into a horse family, she was riding at a very young age.  Her first horse show at 18 months old, she was hooked!  There was always a correl full of ponies, many coming from the cow sale, that kept her busy during the day, because one pony simply could not withstand the amount of riding she wanted to do.

L
esson started at the age of 4 with access to some great ponies that allowed her to learn to ride.  She was showing in English, Western and Gaming at the age of 4, and started Jumping at the age of 5.

Quarter Horses were the next step in her equine experience.  She had the opportunity to ride several different horses at a variety of skill levels and trained with multiple trainers in Western, Hunt Seat and Dressage disciplines.

At the age of 13, Mamie made a change from the horse show arena to the rodeo arena.  She spent the next several years working with Barrel and Roping instructors to hone new skills.  Over the next few years, she competed in Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, Breakaway Roping, Team Roping (head and heel), Bareback Ponies and Girls Cow/Bull Riding.

Barrel Horses settled as Mamie's passion, still dabbling a little in the roping events.  She went on and competed in Barrel Races and Rodeos on a multitude of different horses.

Shetland Ponies are the newest addidtion to Mamie's barn, pulled in as her mother was showing.  The Modern Shetland is appealing, very similar in many ways to the feely and responsive Quarter Horse that she desires in the Barrel and Roping events.  She is just learning the disciplines and figuring out how to apply her skills used on the bigger horses to those of the small equine.
